dads truck losing coolant somewhere

alright my dad has a 94 22re pickup. Prob is it keeps losing coolant but we dont see any leaks. His timing chain has been clanking and rattling for prob 2-3 years. so im worried its worn through somewhere and coolant is leaking into the oil. Also the other day while at a drive through the truck begin to smoke really bad and when u pressed the throttle it would stick. im not too sure if this was coolant or oil it was burning but it was cold outside and the smoke looked white. his trucks been sputtering really bad to after it warms up, but thats most likely the EGR which were gonna order off ebay. So any ideas on the coolant probs?

white smoke= coolant, black smoke= oil, bluey colored smoke usually a mix of both, you should be able to see it during any weather conditions also you will know from the smell of it, not to familiar with the 22RE so i don tknow of any "hidden" so to say hoses like the 3VZE has the transfer line under the intake manifold... check the oil look for foam or drippy oil, about the best i can say good luck ppost further updates!

Check and see if your oil looks like chocolate milk.

If so, all those issues that you addressed can be fixed with parts by Engnbldr.com, including a steel guided timing chain kit.

you can go this route:

http://engnbldr.com/toyota_ala_carte.htm

Timing Set (steel rail) with Timing cover 85-95 $88.00
Head Gasket Set with Head Bolts 85-95 $60.00
Oil Pump with Water Pump 85-95 $82.00

Then shipping would be 12.00

Give them a call. I ordered my parts from them and got them within 2 days. Depending on where your at, your still looking at 3-5 days shipped.

thats either a head gasket or the timing chain has eaten through the timing cover. 22res, for some reason, like eating timing chains. either way, id replace both while ur at it.

I had a blown HG on my 22RE I had so much water in my oil t was funny taking the oil out of the oil pan. When I unscrewed the oil bolt pure clear green water came out. No oil at all. It was quiet interesting seeing pure water come out, then eventually 50/50 of water/oil then just oil haha. This of course it was sitting in drive way 100% cold and had time to separate
