Cant get outta park!

Hey all, I just installed my Lockrite locker. while on the trail trying it out, I stopped, shut the truck off. Started it back up and could not get the gear shifter out of park. It took all I had to get it in gear. Driving seemed normal once in gear. Once I stopped again put the truck in park and turned the key off but the key would not turn all the way to off. Any ideas?

I'm thinking the park neutral switch, or the parking lock mechanism may also cause a problem like that, but I don't have any experence with that. Something to consider. Good luck

There is a small oval cover at the front of the floor mounted gear selector, I think that is the small cover you pull up and insert a small screwdriver to release the selector when the ignition interlock fails. The inst. are in the OM.

just re-read the post this might also release the key to fully turn off but I doubt it..

Check your brake lights as a blown brake light fuse will lock it in park.

Sounds like the shifter locking mechanism might have a problem. There are fairly complicated parts inside there, but the shifter should move freely once you push that little release button. Does the button on top of the shifter seem to be functioning? You might be able to find a used shifter at a bone yard or from someone parting out a truck if your's is broken.
