22re intake manifold removal

1985 4runner 22re

I am having trouble removing my intake manifold. I am trying to remove it all as one piece. Is that possible? I have removed 7 bolts and 2 nuts and it still wont budge. Anything I am missing? Thanx

yeah, there is an "Alan/Allen" bolt in the manifold that can be a pain to remove and get too. I recall using a Snap-On Alan/Allen tool about 5" long to get too it. The engine was already pulled out and I could see the bolt, but I think it would be hard to find with the motor in. You may need to seperate the manifold or use a mirror to see the bolt. Trust me it's in there.

Thanks everyone. I found it. If it's stripped, how can I replace it?

if it is stripped out before it has been removed grind off the head of the bolt pull off the intake then remove it with a pair of vise grips and get a bolt the same size to replace it.
