JET Performance module for the 3.0 v6

Ide say just about all mods to the 3.0 are worth nothing and help in no way. Sorry but its the harsh reality of a crappy motor. Dont waist your money on that motor because it will never return the favor.

i think the 3.0's made from 88 - 91 are better.. there isn't even a hg recall for them.. i blew a hg at around 230k.. what can you expect from aluminum heads and an extremelly restrictive intake & exhaust?.. i think it's a very reliable engine with decent power.. you just need to let it breathe & tune it properly. it really just needs cams, solid core plug wires, os valves, good headers, bypass the AFM with a less restrictive option, and find a way to tune the ecu..
..and even with 250k on the block, i would still feel comfortable adding a supercharger.. maybe grafting the intake manifold with a pontiac supercharger.. i know its not a ing rocket, but you should easily match the power of the 3.4.. fairly cheap if you do all the mods yourself.

If you think so. I wouldn't even supercharge my chevy 350 without major work even at 90k. I know that motor would not hold to a supercharger nor would I recommend adding one to any vehicle with that many miles. That motor would be done so fast. What do you want do do with the truck? I suggest and its my opinion that you don't spend a dime on it and you consider saving for a swap or a new truck. If you think a 3.0 makes good power or can be modded to make it then all the power to you but I speak from having one aspecialy from a HP robbing Auto that its not possible to make it a reliable nor powerful in anyway

It seems to be hit or miss. Some people love it and most(aspecialy on the trail) hate it. Even swaps can seems out of reach and all but I hate to say it but this motor cant do much. The Auto robs about 15HP because of the torque converter and the HG go like crazy on just about all of them. The power is not capable with any and all 3.0 sorry.

it might help a little after you do the normal mods such as exhaust and intake. then you might get some more good out of it.oh and i like my 3.0 by the way. it runs great. and i bet mine could keep up with a 3.4 no problem. [a stock one anyway]

i'm not talking about some huge blower or something.. just a used one off of a v6 pontiac or something (you can get them for $50 - $100). 5 psi isnt gonna hurt anything. btw, regardless of the miles.. i have perfect compression in all cylinders, new heads with os valves & upgraded cams, headers to keep everything cooler & let it breathe, and i have always used synthetic oil.. i love the damn thing, even with the auto.. i don't get what is so slow about it (though i have heard that it is a dog at higher elevations). i think that the 3.0 would benefit from having a supercharger, and handle it without a problem.. plus, if i was gonna take the time to retrofit a pontiac supercharger to the 3.0 intake manifold, you can bet i would machine myself some alloy steel rods & rebuild the internals.. the 3.0 just needs an innovative machinist
you can do ANYTHING with the proper tools & knowledge.
btw.. i didnt mean to turn this into another 3.0 debate, just wanted to throw some ideas around.. i figured the JET module was a rip.. i'm just looking for ways to tune the ecu properly for engine mods.. does anyone know if they make a MEGASQUIRT system for the 3.0?

speaking of the torque converter.. i just had an idea..
the auto behind the 3.0 is the same as the auto behind the 3.4 (except for a few upgrades like a more efficient torque converter, and electronic differences to match the 3.4)
..i am wondering if it would be possible to put the torque converter from the 3.4 auto into the 3.0 auto trans??

..and the head gaskets dont "go like crazy" .. (my factory ASBESTOS headgaskets lasted 230k). the new head gaskets, including the ones defined in the recall (and the ones the dealer replaced them with) do not contain asbestos like the 3.0 heads were designed to use. it takes at least 100k for the non-asbestos head gaskets to fail.. just as fast as any vehicle with aluminum heads & an exhaust that keeps too much heat in.. which also contributes to burnt exhaust valves.. which is why LCE headers are worth $800 bucks to me.

id have to take that bet as well! after driving my 3.0 then my moms 3.4! Lets just say with the 3.0 i can just pass people downhill on the freeway, with the 3.4 i can pass people uphill!!!
Maybe its just the 3.0 has 246,xxx miles and has been through a fire! idk

..oh.. and just to be clear.. i'm not talkng about throwing my money away on some kit to get an extra 2 hp.. im taliking about custom making engine components (i am a machinist with a background in mechanical engineering).. there is no reason for the 3.0 to not be able to be more efficient. after removal of most of the smog equipment, and some upgrades.
i wonder what the 3.0 would do with a well tuned 4 barrel carb.. not that i would ever replace the efi.

anyone heard of these?
