2nd Gen 4R 3.0 Auto - Who uses their cruise?

Who uses it? I know that with the weakness of the 3.0 coupled with an auto makes for sluggish combo. When I've used mine it works fine on the flat, but hills - I can modulate it better.

This thing takes up ALOT of valuable real estate under the hood, so I'm thinking of yanking it and rerouting my FIPK air intake up there so I'm not so nervous about stream crossings. This will free up alot of space for a compressor underhood.

Let's hear your responses...

I voted to the corner store, but its 2+ miles down a parkway with no lights and stop signs.

The part of the country that I'm in is pretty flat. The highest point in louisiana is about 550 feet above sea level so I don't have any real hills. So the CC is not too much of a drag

So to end my ramble if you don't do long distance thru nebraska but spend more time in the hills and the city, toss it.

My runner is a 5 speed but it has cruise.
I like it, but I use it mostly on the interstate,
my town is much to small for it to be of any
use around here.

I commute about 120 miles on a 4 lane highway with a lot of medium size hills, dropping from 1100' asl to 50' asl enroute. Some days it feels like it's uphill, both ways. At the end of my commute I encouter about 5 miles of bumper to bumper (on my dayshift) so,off it goes.so ,I suppose I use cruise for about 85% of my trip.
I also use it for Beginer type trails, as the runner is just so nice to ride

Yank & tank it.
I have used mine a few times, and it's a joke.
I even tried it with stock size snow tires back in '99.

What mine does is it will kick down a gear even on level ground sometimes just to catch up to it's preset speed, and the RPMs jump up to about 4K.

As far as I'm concerned, it's about as usefull as teats on a boar.
(An expression my dad use to use when I was a youngin' only he did not say teats)

i use mine all the time. our land is pretty flat around here. and when climbing those grades, i just kick it to 65 and turn it on because i cant bare to think that i have to push down the peddle fully just to keep up with everybody else, so i let the comptuer do it

I also use it around town a lot. I use it atleast every day

I love my cruise. I use it alot when taking long trips or just out to my gf's dad's (highway all the way) I have a 5 speed so it doesn't do any shifting and pressing the clutch cancels it. It does rather well on hills but here in OK there aren't any really big hills.

Also my home made hand throttle works as a cruise control. It's not as constant as the real cruise as it has no brain but it does the same thing, free your foot from the peddle.

Cruise control on the 3.slow is useless unless you are on a flat highway. Otherwise it would have to be psychic so it could start accelerating before you get to the hill.

I never use my cruise, but it is going to stay there for when I sell my truck. It's going to seem that it is just one more thing broken when you sell it because you have the buttons but no cruise.

I want more power.

Ya know, I like mine, although I don't use it very much. I do notice the hill thing and all, and I see that it uses a ton of gas, which sucks! Oh well. I would keep mine, just to have it. This coming weekend I am going to the shore, so I may use it then, so we'll see. I say keep it, but that is just me! :fireman:

I use my cruise once in a while for those long trips. Our corolla doesn't have cruise but it really needs it for those trips from norcal to socal. I suppose if you don't use it much, then pull it out.

I said keep it, but if you don't use it, or want to do the mod in mind and you need the real estate for it, yank it out.

I used to use it in my 93 3.0slow and it ran like the wind....

downhill...downwind...
