CarQuest Synthetic Oil

$3.33 a quart...here's the catch. It's Valvoline in a different bottle. So it is Valvoline Synthetic foir $3 a quart. Whoa. I'm using this stuff from now on. For you conventional oil guys their conventional is Valvonline and only $1.87 a quart.

Are you sure it's the same formula as Valvoline. Quite often when large companies make the 'same' product for a store brand they don't make it exactly the same to reduce the price. I know the company I work for makes stuff for Costco that's definitely inferior to what we make for other retailers.

No offense to that guy but how does he know for sure?

I reccomend you go to www.bobistheoilguy.com

Best forum for oil related tech. They might have the spec data there comparing the oils. Being made by valvoline doesn't mean its the same.

Base stocks and additives may be different and that is how they reduce the price. Not to say it isn't good. It's just probably not identical.

yeah it wont be the same as valvoline synpower. they normally reduce the add pack to appeal to the buying company's expected price.. BUT if you use it for 5k miles or less. i would say go for it. but buy it in a thicker formula if possible like 10w30 or really 0w40 5w40.. incase it likes to shear over time.. but yeah hell i would buy it. dont expect miracles and by all means change it at 5k or less miles like stated above. its fine
