1991 4Runner SR5 question

Well, I have two questions: I am new to 4Runners and have been looking around. Can you tell me if this might be a wise buy?

1991 4Runner SR5 4X4 142k miles, loaded, /still have to get it checked over by a mechanic/ I have posted a few pics on here, they are the only ones I have this far. price is $2,900

Question #2 the picture of the interior seems to be a manual shift, from the picture, be it a small one, can anyone tell if this is an auto or a manual?

Thanks to all,

Brown28

In addition, it does look like its a 5spd. because they tend (as with alot of cars) have the leathery bag material around the shifter right? Have any auto trannies ever had this material around it shifter for these models?

I checked on the recalls with Toyota, all three were done...head gasket, steering rod relay, and the other I cannot remember.

I'd say auto just cause of e-brake handle, mines a 5spd and my e-brake handle is under dash. But a good lookin truck there, as far as price goes check your local market, 4runners in good shape around here are hard to come by, most have speed holes in them

I would say a 5-speed also. V6 or V4? If V6 check and see if headgasket had been replaced.

This seems a little suspicious to me.

Not only does that interior look more like that of a car than a 4Runner, it looks to be of a blue vehicle.

I could be wrong, but I would be wary of this seemingly good deal and the person providing it.

Looks like a 5 speed, but the owner description says it's an Auto. My e-brake is under the dash as well, I thought all 2nd Gens had them there. The dash and door panels don't look like any 2nd Gen i've ever seen. It doesn't look like your that far from the rig go and take a look and keep us posted, it could be an honest mistake since it's at a used car lot and other vehicle pics may have been taken at the same time.

Hard to say if thats a manual or auto since the interior pic is from a different vehicle. I've seen similar 4runners going cheaper in my area on craigslist.

The picture of that interior is not only NOT a 4Runner, its not even a Toyota at all.

Notice only one shifter? They never made a manual trans 2WD 4Runner.

Gotta pay attention guys!

car interior, you can see the blue door pillar in the bottom right of the pic. if you are close, go take a good close look and test drive it. ask around on here if someone close by can go with you.

if it looks good and checks out with your mech, make a low offer and see if they bite. price isnt all that bad but if you can score it for less all the better.

keep us posted.

thanks

Thanks for everyones help and advice on this...it always helps having a few extra sets of eyes. This rig is 4 hours away from me and when I contacted the dealer about this 4runner he swore up and down that the interior pic IS the same 4Runner...I told him, send me more pictures to prove it or no sale.

Im open to any more opinions on this rig or the pictures if anyone has any other advice...as far as the interior pic, can anyone tell what kind of car that is???

Thanks

Im guessing Nissan? Or maybe honda. Looks like an import, but I could be wrong.

Ask him where the in the pic the transfer case shifter is? Lol

I was woundering when sombody was gonna clue in that the interior picture is NOT a 4runner. Not even an suv! Looks like a 4dr sedan to me in relation to the seats and how high the point of view from the camera is.

As as far as I know toyota never made our trucks with an e-brake like that, always under the dash.
