Take off shudder

As many of you know I just got my truck back from the dealership after they had installed a new clutch. As usual the weather here was crappy and with all the snow and ice on the roads it was hard to tell how exactly how it was actually driving.

Now that the roads are cleared I decided to take my truck out for a test drive, while the jerking is gone when I first take off and it shifts fine from 1st to 2nd gear I feel a slight shudder when Im taking off in 1st gear.

I've spent the last 2 hours searching 2 different forums looking for someone with the similiar problem but didnt come up with anything.

Has anyone every experienced this, if so what's the cause, more importantly how do I fix it?

Edit; 2002 4x4 5 spd manual transmission TRD package 74XXX miles

Thanks

Tug

take it back to the dealership and tell them, if nothing then change your gear oil in the tranny.

Thanks MK, that's exactly what I'm going to do as far as taking it back but do you think changing the gear oil would correct the problem? A buddy of mine who used to be a mechanic for Toyota suggested I start with the gear oil and if that doesn't fix the problem check out the master cylinder. Interesting

Broken motor mounts or transmission mounts can cause shuddering.

Or could be a bad clutch disk, pressure plate, or warped flywheel.

Im thinking along the lines of a bad pressure plate or warped flywheel. The problem is I just had a new clutch kit installed by the dealership.

MK, I just got home from the Dealership.

The mechanic that initially did the work said there was definitely a problem with the clutch but when he put it back together the first time he put a new clutch and and a new fly wheel in and couldn't understand why it was shuddering.

When I took the truck the in the first time I called them after the second day and the service tech said they were waiting for the fly wheel to come back from being serviced, now the mechanic's telling me that they put in a *new* fly wheel. Someone's lying to me, I just cant understand why they feel the need to lie? The truck has a problem, its under warranty... do what you have to do to fix it and let me go on my way, its just that simple!

MK, 74400 miles, other than the clutch this truck rides so smooth, I just need to get all the kinks out of it. I installed the 2 front coil overs and the 2 rear shocks last week, all 4 old shocks were leaking but the left front and right rear were so bad I'm surprised they didn't collapse.

MSR this is all warranty work and believe it or not this dealership appears to be doing their best to accommodate me. They offered me a loaner while my trucks in the shop but beings I have my C-5 in the garage and haven't driven it since October I don't mind taking it out, besides the weathers nice so it'll be good to get it out on the road.

Before I take the truck into the dealership I'll stop off at my mechanics shop (Wade) to get his opinion that way if the dealership tries to BS me I'll know better. Once the 3 month 3000 mile warranty expires should I have any issues I'll just take it to Wade.

Thanks guys

::::UPDATE::::

I just got my truck back from the dealer and it runs perfect. According to the invoice the fly wheel and pressure plate had burnt spots so they replaced the fly wheel, pressure plate, clutch disc, pilot bearing and throw out bearing.

What I dont quite understand is last week when the originally worked on the clutch they told me they replaced the flywheel rather than have it machined but according to the invoice the flywheel was scorched. How can a flywheel with less than 100 miles already be scorched? is it even possible?

Regardless, I've got the truck back and it runs better than I could have ever imagined. After I left the dealership I decided to wash it and take a few picts... check it out

Thanks for all your help,

Tug
