Any one heard of liberty gears (ring n pinion)

Checked with a local truck shop the other day about gears for the 4runner. He said they normaly use liberty gears. I've never heard of them before. They also sell precision, but I want to know if anyone knows of, or has used liberty gears before?

I will probably go with precision gear, I was just hoping somebody knew something about liberty gears. Good or bad.

sorry, no good info from me. i heard of them today on the "off topic" thread talking about the girl in the pic. there were several people posting about it so perhaps they are familiar with their product. give it a day and i'm sure some one else will post some info about them and their product, just not me. good luck

I think Precision Gear is the best there is.

That is what I run as well as all of my wheelin buddies...

Also recommended by the local toyota guru here in town..

Never heard of the other ones..

Ya, precision was my first choice initially. Just wanted to make sure liberty gears wasn't some kick a#$ co. I hadn't heard of before.

I was quoted $1600 for 456 r&p with full install kit (bearings etc.) whatcha all think?

From something `tc` posted in another thread I can't find right now.

"There are only really a couple gear manufacturers out there. USGear and Precision and pretty much unarguably the best.

Richmond, Motive, etc are still pretty good, but a level down from that.

NOTE: you will hear people talk about Yukon gears. Yukon DOES NOT MAKE GEARS. They are simply Richmond or Precision Gears in a Yukon box. The VAST majority are Richmond. Interestingly, the much maligned Genuine Gear sets from 4WP are ALSO Richmond gears and a bunch cheaper.

It is hard to beat the price and quality of the Genuine Gear master install kits BTW.

In the end, the install will make MUCH more difference than the quality of the gears themselves. If you can, I would end your thirdmember/diff to Zuk in Arizona and have him do them."

Lysmachia, thanks for the info. Before I send the thirds out for a ring and pinion install, I would like to see if anyone knows of a shop on the east coast of florida within an hour or two of Stuart that they highly recommend for r&p install.

I agree with rocko taco, $1600 seems steep.
