having trouble getting the new races in
Hey Guys,
Sorry to bother you with such a simple question. I am in the middle of installing a new CV axle. I got new bearings and races, but I am having problems gettng the new races in, anyone have any good tricks.
I did a quick search, but couldn't find anything, and am in a hurry it's freezing outside!

I don't have a brass punch and there are none to be had in this backwater town I live in. I put the old bearing in with my spindle nut against it, and tapped the nut with a hammer. It worked on the other side, but no luck with on this side. It keeps getting cockeyed, then goes nowhere.

stick the races in the freezer for a while. that will shrink them a bit, then take them out one at a time. lay the race on the hub, a board across the top of the race, and hit the board with a big hammer dead center over the race. that should at least get them started into the hub..
