So what's your actual question here? I don't quite understand the point of this post. If you want a Jeep then go get a Jeep, if you want help with your Yota then ask for help.

Well, first off, 6.5 quarts is way too much. You can actually froth it up by having the crank shaft churning it during operation. That frothed oil will not lubricate well.

First step is to make sure you have the correct amount (and weight) of oil.

Now if your engine isn't producing pressure that's another issue. I have not had that problem yet and would do what I'm going to suggest you do. I'd read up on the FSM link (manual) and also search to see if someone else has had the problem.

so have you ran out of oil again? back when my 22re would run low on oil the valves would start clicking. but as low on oil as you let it go a new engine is in your near future, are you noticing any oil leaks? if its not leaking the oil has to be going somewhere, which could be a hg or rings. and did you mean 5 1/2 quarts?

You might read up on the service manual and see if you can verify the oil pressure is low. Also make sure it has compression. You might just need a new oil pump or even ascending unit.

@ longhungsilver, when you run low on oil your pressure drops, trust me.

@ wncmtnrunner, you are loosing oil somewhere, i would try and track down where, and why did you add so much oil anyways? i dont know about the 3.0 but i rebuilt my 22re for about $600, but i had access to a shop where i had all the tools i needed and could do everything except bore the block and mill the head. i would try a compression or a leakdown test.
