replacing master cylinder
Someone asked this about 6 months ago and there were no responses, so I will give it another try. I was not able to get a master cylinder gasket where I got my refurbished Aisin master cylinder. When I take the old MC off, will the gasket be destroyed (do I need a new one)?
I just want to know going into this project so that I do not start what I cannot finish. I will call a dealer tomorrow and see if they can get it.
Thanks,
Scott

The dealer should be able to get any gasket. Most likely yours will not be reusable... but you might get lucky.
What purpose does the gasket serve... I am not that familiar with the master cylinder and what it takes to replace.

Does that gasket actually keep the brake booster sealed? Seems like it just keeps the interior of the truck sealed from the engine compartment. When I did it I think I just made a gasket with some RTV.

With tax it was $2.29 at the dealer. After looking at the gasket I thought the same as 854x4, just get some paper and make my own.
I am going to do this today. It appears to be pretty simple, I think the only part that will take some trial and error will be the adjusting of the rod in the vacuum booster, but maybe it won't need adjusting.

When I did mine, I got lucky and it came out ok. I don't think it does a heck of a lot in there 'cause there shouldn't be any fluid coming out that end of the cylinder. If there is, I'd be rebuilding it....

It dosent seal fluid, it seals the vacuum in the booster from escaping.
