88 stereo no power

so i bought a truck over the weekend.
previous owner tells me he had a radio in it at one time and he just pulled it to put in another car.
it has all the factory connectors.so i go to wally world and get the connector/adapter deal.then hook it up to the appropriate wires, turn it on and no power.
i tried with 2 different known to work head units and all fuses are good.
what gives? am i not looking in the right spot for another blown fuse?
didnt have time to find my test light last night, just got frustrated and walked away.

probably a bad connection to your battery or ign line. get a multimeter!

check and see what wire at the deck location is dead, if its the constant wire, the fuse is under the hood in the secondary box.

I'm having a similar issue. Checking with my multimeter none of the wires that the old stereo hooked to is putting out any voltage, with and without the ignition on.

I checked every fuse in the damn rig - in the engine bay and in the drivers foot well and all of em are good. I think I'm gonna have to run a couple of new wires from the ignition cylinder around to the Stereo.

Any suggestions what I might be missing, is there a mystery fuse someplace else?

Thinking about it (I'm not very electrically minded) - I guess a wire directly from the ignition would be a bit silly.

Would running fused power straight from the battery and through the firewall, then run the + when ignition is on from the ignition cylinder work?

RiNkY-
check all of the fuses under the dash and at the battery under the hood with the key on. I have yet to see a fully dead wire on a toyota.
if they are truely dead, you can get switched and constant at the ign switch. on most vehicles with dead power wires, thats usually where I get my power.
