How do I take the IAC Valve off of my 99 Tacoma to clean it? It's giving me starting issues since I had a K&N air filter on there, I'm sure it's all gummed up.

How do I go about taking it off step-by-step and do I need a new gasket to put back on it once I clean it?

Is it possible to clean it by taking the main air intake line off and spraying carb or MAF cleaner down onto it?

If you want to clean the IAC then take off the intake tube and spray some intake cleaner into the hole on the bottom of the throttle body just in front of the throttle plate. This will clean all the crud off the passage and spindle of the IAC. Fill the passage with cleaner and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Clean the throttle body and throttle plate while you wait. Then put it all back together and start the truck. It WILL be hard to start; but don't worry about it. You're just letting all the cleaner get sucked in the intake.

Nothing more to it.

I did mine by following a writeup, I just can't remember where it was from. Just take the throttle body off, and bring it in the garage. Once its in, turn it upside down, and take the IAC valve off. I remember there being two gaskets, one of which is steel, and doesn't need to be replaced; but the other one does. This of course is on the 3.4, you didn't specify which engine.

Edit: NO, you cannot clean the IAC by just spraying cleaner in the TB.

 

I just ordered two gaskets from my Toyota dealership. It was like 8 bucks all together. One for the throttle body and one for the IAC. Is that all I need? I'd hate to have my engine apart and need another gasket. The parts guy at the dealership said there were only these two gaskets in the computer, nothing else.

Please let me know ASAP if possible as I'm probably going to try to clean this stuff on Monday. If I need another gasket I'd like to order it by then.

Yes, and very carefully remove those screws. They are brass or something!!! I stripped 2 of mine... ended up hammering on a socket to get them off.
