wont run after hg replacement
Ok so I tore my whole engine down after my HG went and under the advisement of my father and others took my heads to the machine shop and had the valves reseated and the heads cleaned up and polished. anyway i put it all back on and now i am having problems getting it to run smoothly it has trouble starting and when it does it revs really high for a few secs about 2-3000 rpm. then it calms down to about 800-1000 btw its a 3.0 v6 140,000 miles I drained all the fluids and i know everything went back on right. So I have two questions
1. when the #1 piston is at tdc the marks on the camshaft gears should line up with the ones on the plate behind it like in the haynes manual correct? and the pins in the cam shaft are in the groove on the gear correct?
2. I have a little smoke that starts to come out after a minute of running it is coming from where the egr is attached to the exhaust manifold. and i get a sound like a cylinder has compression and it is leaking back into the intake. It sounds like a rush of air. that is coming from what sounds like the throttle body area.
I would appreciate any help as this is supposed to be my dd for a little while longer

Here is a link to all the Toyota FSM's (these are the dealer manuals, not Chiltons, or Haynes).
