An Ordinary bumper build

I made the bumper portion two weeks ago. Today I got my reciver hitch, and D-rings. I cut out the hole for the reciver in the bumper and cut out my arms to bolt to the frame, gonna have to spend a bit to clean up the arms since i had to torch them and there is alot of slag. So tomorrow i will don the ear muffs and face shield and grind some metal down. Still got a bit of welding but the main cutting is over. It is going on my 4runner.

And yes i have the best saw horses in town

sweet man looks pretty sturdy. you may want to use shackles instead of D-Rings. My bro has D-Rings on his front bumper and we can barely get the loops and about the first foot or so of the strap that is not so flexible through the rings.

with shackles all you have to do is unbolt the shackles, put one side of the shackle through the loop and bolt it back onto your bumper.

Nice work. As far as the D-rings go, you can still use a shackle to attach the loop of the strap to the d-ring, or you can just one of the receiver mounted shackles. I will probably end up selling my rear bumper and tire carrier when I bob my bed and make a clean simple bumper like yours.

I have used the Drings on other bumpers and they have worked fine, but i understand it can get tight. I do have the shackles for help in recovery.

got any pics of that bumper you are gonna get rid of? I'll take it, buy it, selling it cheap? I need bumpers front and rear but my budget won't allow me to buy new ones. live in apartment, so can't build any.

Well it finally stopepd raining, and i got it installed. I didnt do the gusset/trim piece by the reciever cause i would have to redrill the hitch to allow the hold pin to work vertically, because it wouldn't be real practical if i had to use a differnt hitch from somebody else.

Before

After

What happened to the angle pieces that brace the hitch? I liked the look. Still looks good. Good work.

I really wish to use them, but if i even cut a hole out of them for the hitch pin to go through , it will collect water like mad and probably rust out good.

Wow. If just read I would get the answer to my own question. Or better yet I wouldn't ask stupid questions or questions that make me look stupid. My bad. They were cool looking but function over form. Still looks good!
