FT/FS: Clean 2001 SV650 10k miles
I have a 2001 SV650 naked, beautiful condition, right at 10k miles. I got it for my wife, but she has lost interest in it. I paid $2800 for it about 10 weeks ago, and she's put less than 500 miles on it in that time. She dropped it once at very low speed, but I had frame sliders on it, so the only thing that got hurt was the clutch lever, the shifter, and some scratches on the aftermarket fairing... No damage to the tank or frame or anything that "belongs" to the bike. I'm still waiting on the title, they say it takes about 10 weeks to get processed through the Alabama DMV, so it should come in anytime now. I could give a bill of sale then mail out the title as soon as it comes in, or if someone is interested I could hold it with small deposit until the deal could be finalized with the title.
If you've heard anything about these bikes, you probably know they're renowned to be nothing but fun to ride. They don't have the balls-to-the-wall narrow powerband rush that the i4 engines have, but the low range torque and flat powerband from the V-twin make them a lot of fun to ride at reasonable speeds and RPMs. It's nice not to have to wrap the RPMs way out to get some torque to the ground. They are also well known as twisties machines, and are used a LOT as track bikes. What they lack in down the line speed they make up for in cornering ability, and people ride them very competitively on the track. I actually have one myself... I'm pretty sure I'm keeping that one, though... Unless someone has a REALLY nice truck to trade and for some reason needs a pair of first-gen SV650s.
You can see in the photos it has a homemade rack for a givi-style case on the back that the last owner put on. The case and windshield are included. The windshield has some scratches from the drop, but needed a paint job anyway. The fairing actually looks like it has worn out a couple of bikes. That first biggest pic (linked) shows the bike as it currently is. I left it large so you could see all the details. You can just see the scratches on the side of the windshield.
If you look on the tail section behind where the grab bar attaches, you can see where the paint doesn't match perfectly. The previous owner said he had rubbed through the paint there with some bunjee cords, and didn't want to spend the money to get the color matched paint. It is close match, as you can see from the photos, but if you're looking closely you can see it, so I thought I should mention it in the interest of full disclosure. I actually had a set of like-new tail plastics all lined up to buy on SVrider.com, but my wife decided she didn't want to spend the money to fix a simple cosmetic flaw. Other than that, it really is totally mint. The engine purrs like a well-greased kitten, and no performance mods at all. The current actual mileage is 10,368. It also has a set of 1" handlebar risers, and 2" mirror extenders, to make it more comfortable to ride, and it got a new set of Shinko 009 tires about 1000 miles ago, they're barely scrubbed in.
I'm looking to get the $2800 I paid back out of it. I could very easily get more by waiting for spring riding season, but I'm also looking for a 4wd vehicle like right now, so trades are most definitely my preference. My perfect ride would be a second-gen 4runner with a 5spd and a 22re. I'd take an x-cab pickup too, but no reg-cab pickups. The engine is negotiable, but I'm pretty set on a standard trans... Unless it's an AT that was just installed very recently with full documentation.
I'm absolutely not looking for a project, I need something I can throw my surfboards into and drive into the dark reaches of mexico tomorrow. I have a couple thou or so I can throw in on the right vehicle, and of course, if you're offering a trade that's worth less than the bike, I'd want some cash to make the deal equal as well. I don't figure the rig I want will be worth less than the bike, though.
You can email me direct at akshwuz (at) yahoo (dot) (com), as I'm not on this BB very much. I do have a good trade history on SVrider.com under the same username (psychsurf), as well as on ebay under username badfishak. So, I'm not looking to screw anyone.
Here's some photos.
