Only seen it in my mind before. Difference is, my version came with a spare handle and was a lot less expensive. Of course, this version is real, whereas I'm still looking for a place to cast the parts cheaply.

 

I am seriously considering getting one.
Why?

The shovel and ax I throw up on the roof rack are required pretty much if you off road, and the Forest Service pretty much insists you have that gear with you when off roading in my area.

But how often do they get used?
Not very often, but it is something you want for backup just in case.

With this item from Hi-Lift, it can stay in the rig at all times and be ready, and I do not have to worry about putting it up on the roof and taking it off the roof when I get back from a trip.

I have to do some thinking about this...

 

There's also the MaxAxe - similar concept, but been around a while (and therefore a bit more proven than a new product)

 

unless you got all your storage compartments inside full, that would be handy if you really dont want the stuff on your roof rack. me personally have a level 3 first aid kit, tow rope with shackle and tools to fix most anything that might break, im still looking for fold away shovel & stuff like that. Corey, do you know if someone can cut an extra understeat storage on the other side of the jack on a 2nd gen Surf/4Runner? is there actually space under there to do that or is ittaken up by stuff underneath the vehicle? anyone know if it can be done?????

 

Without seeing it or using it, I would question the long term structural integrity of something like that, especially if used hard. Is it really built to withstand the forces of chopping or ..uh, "sledging"?

But then again, it is made by "Hi-lift". Corey, you should get two and then send me one, and I'll help with a YT review of it!

It is a little cheaper going through a retailer, but I am also working something else, but my contact is out to lunch right now.

Think back to what we were doing during the summer.

 

2 piece handle? Held together by lock pins? Whats the handle made out of-unless its steel I wont touch it..

Nothing like good old wood or fiberglass!

I got a nice PDF file from Hi-Lift in the email a bit ago, will be converting that over to a JPG when I am at home.

The unit is coming directly to me, and I will have it before Christmas.
As soon as our software here picks a winner next week, I will contact the winner and try to get it UPS'd to you as fast as I can.
Saturday the 22nd I will take it to UPS reshipper.

My local Central 4WD has one in stock, I think I will pick it up tomorrow.
I do kind of want to get all my stuff off of the roofrack, as I am thinking very hard about one of these.
This one to be exact, and it fits the factory rack.

Picked it up after work yesterday at Central 4WD.
It is pretty darn nice, and the tools are nice and heavy.

Everything fits in the bag quite well.

The one for the giveaway should be showing up next week.

Hi-Lift informed me that it is on my local UPS truck out for delivery.
I should have it by 4 PM today.

 

Fingers are crossed that I win December giveaway, but this has been added to my X-mas list. It is a long list but figure that a few things will show up under the tree

Just curious how much the whole package weighs? also is there any kind of cap on the end of the handle?

Just put the box on the scale and it tips out at 32 lb.
Figure maybe 31.5 without the box.
Fed Ex dropped it off yesterday.

No end caps on the handle, but I am sure one could slip a rubber end or a "T or D" handle over the end inside of the tube.
I may look into doing that.
