Dumb question? Maybe.... what is a race?

I am gearing up to do the front hub rebuild, and I am reading up on it, and I keep seeing reference to the "race" (see post #13)

What is this "Race"? Where do I find them?

Bearing race is what they mean.

For example bearings go in race like this(lower left).

Gives something for the bearing to ride on, rather than the casting of whatever the bearing installs into (in this case the spindle)

If it was a knuckle service kit w/ bearings it did.
