timing belt on my 88 4runner

so the bearings in my timing belt tensioner decided to blow out well i was driving the other day and caused my timing belt to slip wicked bad so i decided while i had the whole front end taken apart i will do the belt while i am at it but i ran into a problem my "vibration damper" pulley i cant get the thing off for the life of me i took the started moter out and jammed the flywheel like my book told me to do and while trying to loosen the bolt i pulled so hard that i snapped the wrench i have no idea what is up i was wondering if the threading is opposite but the book didn't tell me and i figured but for now the truck sits dead in my driveway again i cant just keep the old belt on because the bearing and all the other junk fell in down by the crank shaft sprocket if any one has any ideas don't be afraid to call me dumb haha im just not sure so i decided to ask before

That bolt is normal thread, they're just very tight. If you don't have an impact wrench try using the starter method. Get a 24" breaker bar with a deep 6-point socket, I can't remember which size it is, whatever fits the bolt. Put the socket on the bolt, brace the breaker bar under the passenger side frame rail and hit the starter for a very short burst. Disconnect the ignition system first. This trick has worked every time for me.

for really stubborn bolts i have multiple lengths of "breaker" bars.

the shortest is 2 feet, and the longest (for suspension so far) is my 7 foot heavy plumbing pipe. (iron)

also, breaker bar in a can = PBBLASTER. that stuff has no-peer.
dont buy anything less, PB-blaster is and will get that bolt ready to open in about ten minutes. (this is not spam)

it has the most concentrated lubricating agents of any other vender, and is worth every penny.
in fact, one can lasted me about a year, (yes i work on my, and my friends bmws almost every weekend). i was skeptical at 1st, but this is necessary for brakes, drivelines, suspension and bolts liike yours.

that way worked so good i give it two umbs up it poped right of with only the smallest crank from the starter i would sugest trying it

IR 235Ti....1000 ft/lb in reverse in 6sec....saves me heartache everyday.

The same thing happened to my 88 last week. My tensioner was blown to pieces...that made a HORRIBLE noise. I just put mine back together yesterday, and runs like a champ now. Best replace that water pump while your in there man!

i did the belt put the truck still seams like the timing is off doesnt make any sense to me i made sure every thing was lined up and the distributor to it runs like crap i dont get it
