How's your rear-wiper doin these days?

And I'm not talking about the Charmin

Mine doesn't actually make contact with the window during operation.

I'm thinking I need to replace the spring. Anyone done this? Should it fix the problem?

Unless the spring is fubard, you probably have a different problem. There's a mechanism that draws the wiper up to the little plastic seat. Pull the cover off the inside and see if it's gotten seized up or broken. Might try some spray lube, as well.

I don't got no steankin' rear wiper... haha
yeah the spring is probably the issue but not the way you think try lubricating the arm hinge and spring with a little LPS#3 first. WD-40 might free it up also but the LPS will give you the best result IMO. I had a similar problem with my front wipers and it was the hinge points binding stopping the spring from being able to exert full down force a little LPS#3 and a few folds up and down and it was all good.

Now that's efficiency....and/or plenty of fiber.

mine was rusted out so i removeded it, it also stopped going into the little holder a while before i took it off. I think it looks better without it anyway, iv even seen some people shave them off like on Greg Canada's ride

Works fine but doesn't always retract all the way. Its no big deal though cause a quick flip of the switch and it will then seat its self. Oh yea got 300,000 miles on it too.

Works now.....finally. DO NOT lose any of those little pieces on there, though. What a PITA it was, after I finally bought those parts, to find a new wiper blade.....not something I'd care to experience again.

never had it when I got my 4runner the shaft that held the arm was broken off and it did not run either until I took off the top this summer when I put it back on the first time I started the truck up I heard a noise coming from the back. and so the motor dose work just no wiper arm.

Is this a trick question........

Like "Is your refrigerator running?"

The hinge portion of the arms arm subject to siezing up from rust Take the arm off and lube it and work it real good then put it back on. Unless the spring is broken it shoud be OK

I bet the hinge is seized on the wiper arm. Mine was when I got it. I just found another one in the junkyard.

I replaced mine with a new one when the hinge siezed - I don't remember how much it cost but I remember it was pretty cheap. I had tried to fix it a bunch of times so it was worth the few bucks to get a new one in the end. It still never retracted completely off the window and onto it's little seat though
