Questions about gears!!!

Hey I'm looking to regear my Toy when I lift it (22r, going to be running a weber carb and possibly some type of intake kit? and 35" MTs)

what I want to accomplish with the gearing is, overall, better street manners. I want to regain use of fourth gear when driving around town, higher highway speeds, etc. I'm currently running 33s with stock I believe 4.10 gears and although i'm used to these old toyotas getting dogged down by big tires, i know theres a gear ratio that will restore its drivability as a DD.

i also want to be able to have fun off road though! i'm doing the chevy spring swap and i'm definitely going to want a gearset to perform off road when i test out the droop of these new springs

i've decided not to run duals or a beefed up t-case for now, since its primarily going to be a DD. so concerning the diffs, what gears would you run?

If its a daily driver and you travel the highway a bit then I would do 5.29's. I installed 5.29's in my friends 86 4runner with a straight axle on 35's and he was very happy most noticeably in the areas you mentioned and in his ability to leave a stop light with minimal clutch slippage. He can still run 75 on the highway and with 35's and 5.29's your speedo will be pretty darn close. If you didn't do much on the highway then I would say 5.71's but the 5.29's are a very good ratio for 35's.

go with 5.29's, if you look on marlins website it'll say don't go with 5.71's for any real offroading. 5.29's are what most run with 35's.

5.29's were great on my old truck with 35's.

5.29's all the way. RPMs are no prob and the 22re likes to rev anyway. I'm going to go 5.29's when I regear - even if it means I run 33's in the meantime I move up to 35's.
