Welcome.

I have a '94 with 22RE also and it's been running pretty poorly lately.

There were a lot of things overdue, and I didn't expect them to fix things but I changed them anyway: new plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor. I also replaced the fuel filer and air filter, and adjusted the timing and idle speed. It's a little bit better, but still not right on.

I'm gonna keep an eye on this post to see what suggestions others have for you. Maybe some will help me out, too...

If the problem arises specifically at 3000 RPM's, then the air flow meter would be the first component to test. I don't have the specs on me, but there are voltage and ohm specs that are in the factory service manual to test for proper operation.

Other possibilities that would not generate a code include a worn fuel pump, bad fuel pressure regulator, and clogged catalytic converter. A very rare possibility would be a bad fuel pulsation damper, but as I said, it?s VERY rare.
