Car isn't running any ideas? 87 4runner
Hi i just bout this 87 4runner with the 22RE 2.4L enginefrom a friend and its been sitting for two years i am rebuilding it. Now here is the problem it starts but will only stay running if the idle set screw is all the way down. and then obviously it is only running at 100 - 150 rpm.
It has good compression 175 - 180 in all cylinders
Good spark
New Fuel lines and pump
Still need to replace the fuel filter
Just curious if anyone would have any ideas

If you still need to replace the fuel filter, I'd start there and see where that gets you. Even still, look for any vacuum leaks or misrouted vac lines. And where's your timing at?

So i replaced the fuel filter and all the vacuum lines and it has not corrected whatever problem is happening. When i check the check engine light it gives me a code of 11 blips. Which means that it is either the throttle positioning system or computer unless a different problem is causing this code to show up.
Anyone have any other ideas. I am drawing blanks also whats the best way to check to see if it is either of the afforementioned problems
thanks

TPS testing and adjusting procedures

Also check the large rubber boots and plastic tubing for any leaks or holes that run from the air flow meter and the throttle body.
