1st gen, dash speakers- hard to take out? door panel speakers- which kind?

hi, i finally need to get squared away on my speakers. My question (and i haven't really looked at it, but i'm affraid that i have to take the whole dash apart?) how to take the front speakers out? and if i put speakers in the front doors, what kind to get? I have crank windows with wing vents. If i put speakers in the front doors do they just attach to the door panel or to the actual door sheet metal? (if just to the panels i'm not gonna do it as they're flimsy as it is and missing mounting points). Is there a specific brand that has to be shallow? Thanks.

The grilles pop off the dash speakers (or they might have a screw or 2 at the bottom, I forget) and you can just unscrew the speakers. For the door speakers you can use pretty much anything since you have the vent windows. The last ones I installed I used 6.5" Polk components.. They sounded awesome. You do need to cut a hole in the panel and sheetmetal and the speaker screws into the sheetmetal.
