the 1KZ-TE is one of the diesel engine options for our trucks that we never see here.

 

how does it compare to the 3.4L v6 that we have here? cuz i waan swap in a 2uzfe(from a LC) into my 4 runner...

 

Apples and Oranges. Diesel will have better low speed power with good towing ability but usually they aren't built for speed. If you want speed AND towing power put in the V8. Diesels are great for longevity and torque but acceleration isn't usually a consideration. Also consider that in a lot of places diesel is pretty much all they have for fuel - even the cars are diesel. That's probably why Toyota didn't put that engine in our trucks here. Just not enough demand, so they built a supercharger for the 3.4 instead.

 

what v8's can i use w/o the use of a tranny adapter?

 

My trucks got the said 3 litre turbo diesel engine in and i gotta say its way quicker than my old 94 V6 Runner. It was an import from Japan as they have the steering wheel on the same side as we do so we get alot of Hilux surfs in the UK. I would say the Diesel engine is not as smooth as the V6 was but way more torque. Also i am getting an average of 28 - 30 mpg a little more when i go on a trip. Seeing as our stupid ar$e govenment has just put up the price of fuel again! to 1 pound a litre i need all the mpg's i can get (not sure what a litre is to a gallon)

so you pay about $7.75 a gallon and we pay about $3 a gallon or roughly 50p per liter...

75% of the fuel cost in Great Britian and most other western European countries is Tax. Unlike here where Tax is at MOST 33%


Another thing is that Toyota didnt build, provide, engineer, assist, or in anyway help TRD in the development of the Supercharger. TRD USA which is the corp responsible for the 3.4 superchargers development. They were not a part of TOYOTA until 2005. Toyota in fact is responsible for the discontinuing of all superchargers for the time being.


This would be an awesome swap though. I wish this engine was more readily available i would have done this swap instead
