the mystery of my runner not running

so my 4runner died about 2 years ago. the timing chain broke, luckily no valves were bent. since i was gonna have to dig so deep in the engine i fugured why not just go ahead and rebuild it. (has 186,00mi) rebuilt it with engnbldr's kit with the medium cam and put it back in the 4runner. she started up and ran pretty good, until I smelt the gasoline. the injectors had become leaky from not being used and gas was pouring everywhere.(didn't know this at the time) tried to start her again and BOOM! she burst into flames, burnt my wiring harness and the entire egr system. got new injectors, harness, and egr componets and now she won't run. The first time you try to start her she fires and runs for about 3 seconds then dies, no matter how much throttle you give it. then after that she just turns. I did a compression check just to see what i'd get and i got some interesting readings. 1 is at 150, 2 at 140, 3 at 130, 4 at 125. i know the engine runs, i heard it before the fire, so i don't think the compression should be that bad. my question is could the fire actually affect the compression, and would it be a headgasket? please help, this is getting too become too much.

Check and make sure that you have good fuel pressure.

just did the famous backyard check for fuel pressure, and yeah i got fuel pressure. i'm really hoping its not the compression since i just put all the new pistons and rings in it, but it may be something else. any ideas are appreciated

The fire shouldn't have impacted compression, unless things got silly hot..

Don't worry about initial compression with a rebuild - unless you don't have compression. The rings aren't seated and compression readings aren't going to be particularly valid.

thanks dcg, your logic makes sense and eases my mind (i DID NOT want to take the head off AGAIN). i got her to fire up and run, but she doesn't like to run under 1500 rpm. in fact if the throttle is closed she wont stay running at all. i'm pretty sure this has something to do with timing, but my timing light is being a douche and only working intermittently. any other input is appreciated and thanks again.

Check the air intake meter thing i cant think of the real name. look in side of it and hold the little door open and try to start it.

you can check your injectors with a noid light, to make sure the injectors are all getting fire....just to rule the injectors out
