vicoor on toyotanation posted his 22re with a glasspack. I can't seem to find it right now though.

It sounded alright, a little too ricy for me.

Here's a better idea, and far cheaper too. Cut off your old muffler, who needs it anyway? It was restrictive and sounded terrible (wait, there was no sound). Once you have the original muffler on, go grab a coffee can, duct tape it on, and now your truck goes faster and sounds 9 times better.

glasspacks are crap. They sound like crap, and will blow out in a matter of months.

ive got a thrush glasspack on my 22re pickup and it sonds fine. it can get loud, but its not bad. and theres nothing wrong with it. give it a couple more months and the fiberglass will all be worn away and it will just be a straight pipe. bam.

As a matter of fact, I just got done welding up a new exhaust system for my 22R truck. I used 2 1/4" tubing, a new cat, and a mullet muffler/cherry bomb at the very end. It's quiet at idle but loud when you get on the gas. It's not farty, though, just loud.

I went without my muffler and had the exhaust exit in front of the tire. I kinda liked it. It had a nice deep tone to it for a 4banger. I now have a pacesetter and a cherry bomb.

i have a 22re with stock exhaust, and somehow, when its idling, the exhaust sounds like a small V8. its got that rumble. yet its got the factory manifold, exhaust, muffler, cat. its not LOUD, but when you get near the exhaust, you can hear it. so what this thread is suggesting is this: if you want ricer, go with a glasspack. if you want some balls, go with a header and muffler, right?

I have one and i like the sound. it only gets "ricy" (which really isn't that ricy from the outside) when you redline it. I don't see how a glasspack can blow out, its basically just a straight through piece of pipe wrapped in fiberglass, nothing to "blow"

We threw one on my buddies tacoma, and i swear everytime i hear that thing i think that i'm on a pole line road about to get run over by a trophy truck. It sounds amazing on a tacoma.

i got a glasspack for my 22r and it had a ricer-ish sound so i cut it in half, took out that gay tube and the stupid packing and welded it back together it sonds really really cool! (accept for the occaisional backfire, my neighbors love it) im havng trouble getting the video clips of me revving it and driving by up but i will keep trying. anyways if you have a swzall and a welder your good to go. its not really loud but that might be due to the cataletyc its just right, almost sounds straight piped but a little more finished sounding.

Hey there, I see you made it to the forums.

You have to get some pics and sound clips up of that muffler. I have to see it!

ya actually, i used clamps and jb weld before i started welding and it worked great! dont use other stuff though a lot of others smell really bad under heat even though they say they can handle it jb weld is the best!!!

here is a pic of the muffler currently. i still cant get the sound clip, my computer is 2 years older than my video camera and doesn't recognize the file type so... i donno about the sound maybe even though i cant see it i can upload the video and you fancy people with newer computers can watch it.
