I ordered one from 4wheelparts.com for $360.00 with a lifetime no questons asked warrenty should be here tomorrow or tuesday if your really interested you can't go wrong for the price and warrenty. If you do order one from them just tell them that you want the lifetime warrenty and free shipping.

ya I paid for the warranty they were selling for $299 and got the shipping free for the total of $359.78or $360 rounded up can't beat the warranty. But like the guy told me if anything happens to it do to workmanship abuse or I drop it off a 100 storey building just gather up the parts and send it back they will replace it for free with no questions asked for life so I figure its with the $50-$60 bucks and after a few times of it breaking they will upgrade it to a better one so they don't have to keep replacing the thing anyway.

Well it arrived today
Got home from work at 11:30 pm to find this so it was time to play for a few minutes. I got to say this seems like a really good winch for the money feels sturdy and if not I got a lifetime warrenty so can't go wrong I guess so this weekend I guess I build the winch plate an try to mount it and see what ill do. OK on to the pictures if you have the chance to buy one do like I did and tk 4wheelparts intoe life time no questions asked warrenty and free shipping I am very satisfied for now with the $360.00 spent on it.

Finally got mine installed. Everything looks and works good so far. I added a small bracket to the control box so I wouldnt need to cut the grill. I like it better at an angle, and I still have plenty of room to plug the remote in.

i've heard good things about these winches for the price, watch out for the cable though its steel with a fiber core
if this is the thread you mentioned i also read it, somewhat helpful

reading that thread on pirate and annother one on some heep fourm for $300 its a pretty good winch but there are some allen head bolts that rust easily and the cable is kinda crappy but a good overall value.

Looks like they have changed up the Smittbuilt winch. In with a series wound motor and out with the Permanent Magentic motor!!! I believe they have kept the same price. Here's a thread about it on Pirate

I'm really considering it now!!! The permanent magentic motor and the slowness associated with those types of winches was holding me back on getting one. Now with a series wound motor, it should be faster and more reliable!!!
