Spent $550 at the dealership
Just go my 4Runner back from the dealership for maintenance, here is the break down:
- 30,000 mile Major Service = $299+tax
- Deduct the spark plug because I put Irdium plugs in 3,000 miles ago. = -$90
- Throttle Body Service = $159.95+tax
- Clean M.A.F. sensor = $90
- Replacement of EFI fuel filter = $129.95+tax.
Subtotal = $588.90+tax
The service guy probably felt bad for raping me so bad, he gave me $550 including tax out the door and a rental car.
At least they washed the 4runner for me.

That is a lot of bank, were you given an estimate? Did you ask for one?
It cost about $150 to do a service on a atv at our shop.
Our shop rate is $60hr. It adds up quick.
The best thing to do before recieving service is ask questions.
Hope this helps ease the burn. Some dealers will burn you.
I personally would do all my own services.

I spent that much at the dealership last month too.
-Diff fluid
-Trans Fluid
-Oil
-2 rear axle seals
-both rear brakes cleaned out
-And labor costs
At least the rear brakes work now that there not filled with fluid.

Don't look back and don't ask how much others have paid it will make you sad. Just convince YOURSELF it is alot less than BIG problems down the road.

I'm hardly a mechanic but a little research on here and I cleaned my throttle body and MAF sensor in about 30 minutes for both at a cost of maybe $10. Seriously, search this forum, you'll be amazed at how easy it is.
The rest, yeah I dont' have the time so I usually let the stealership do it, but I always haggle. Up front 10% off, plus any coupons, plus my bickering usually gets it down a little further. Not much but I take it
Oh and I always order my parts from Texas because here in Colorado, for some reason parts are twice as much. So I always go walking in with the Toyota OEM parts I bought!
The free rental is standard for any work over $200 or something here in colorado.
