saying hi and question about 3vz engine

hello all, just thought I would say hello. I own a 91 4runner, 160kish miles and number 6 has no compression, I am pretty sure it dumped the head gasket but broke between cylinder and the outside. It is still very much drivable and I still drive it everyday. The head gasket was replaced on the recall back in 98. So here is my thinking instead of tearing into this thing and replacing head gaskets, water pump, timing belt. I think I may just replace the long block or entire engine for that matter. Either that or I am going to find a 3vze in a junk yard and just rebuild it. If I do end up swapping I think I am going to headers that will eliminate the cross over pipe.

Never mind I found my answer for difference in engines.

Thanks in advance

Welcome!

Lots of info on the 3VZE here. Search on 3slow, 3.slow too

If my 3.0 goes, a 3.4 (5VZFE) is going in. I'm not spending another dime on this thing. The power/fuel economy ratio just isn't worth it. (If it's gonna be this slow, at least get me good mileage/ if I'm gonna get this mileage, at lest be smoking the tires at will)

Hmmm...sounds like it could also be a burnt #6 exhaust valve, yeah?

It's pretty common in these engines. Wouldn't be that hard to fix that if it was. Maybe so, depends on what you mean by hard I guess, still end up doin' a head gasket. It'd be worth the while though in my book. But, to each his own...

well put. i will take a 22re with a 5spd over my 3vze+auto any day (except the day that I have to tow something).
