If I put the springs from a 99 highlander on my 02 SR5 is 1" all I will get? Is that just with the 96-98 years? Will I get more than that on the 02? If I put these on should I still use a spacer for the rear and which one should I use?

Yes, I believe 1" is all you'll gain, so nothing really at all.

Man, going through all that trouble of putting new springs in, I'd just opt for Tundra springs + OME. Do it right the first time.

 

How much of a lift would this give me? What would the parts cost on this left?

I purchased the SS 7.1 kit from Steve and I've got it installed on my '02 4Runner. Check out my Profile in my sig to see pictures of it installed. I gained 2.5" in the front and 3.0" in the rear. (my rear was sagging .5")

Steve's kits are top notch.

 

I thought that you would get closer to 1.5-2" of lift with the 99 coils seeing how the 01-02'a were the "low rider" years. I still wouldn't go that route though I don't think it's worth the trouble. Another option that seems to work around here is the toytec 3inch lift. I believe they have other options as well. checkout toytec.com

 

YEP. My lowrider 01 got about 2 from the perf products 1 inch lift springs...

 

I did the old school OME lift on my '02.

881 with n91sc
890 with n86

2.5" in front
3" in back

$617 + $55 shipping + $15 coil compressor + $50 strut assembly = $737 total

If I had the cash I would've gone SS 7.1, but I put the money saved into rims and tires.

SS 7.1
1161.50 + ($55 + $15 +$50) = 1281.50

 

A little bit cheaper with the non-wuss version =

$1161.50 + $55/shipping + $0 for rented spring compressor + $0 DIY = $1,216.50



You can call trdparts4u.com and get the stuff from them, too. I believe the springs and struts/shocks will run you about $700.

 

I wish I could have compressed the 881 coils with the spring compressor I rented. It nearly killed my impact wrench just to get the stock top plates off the old strut. There would have been no way to compress the 881's to fit my new struts. Therefore I wussed and had Billy Bob's Offroad assemble the new struts.

$0 dollars for the rented spring compressor, man I wish your rental shop was in my neighborhood.

 

Actually, I'd probably take it to a shop, too. The stock springs were scarey enough to compress...

From what I've read, you will get more than 1" from the 99 coils...more like 2". I'll second some other ideas in this post that you might as well go the Tundra/OME or Tundra/LC route while you're at it.

 

Hey all. Brand new member today, Sorry if im off the subject but i have a couple questions. I went in to get an estimate about a lift for my 01 4runner. les swab and the dealership. the dealership was surprisingly cheaper who would you reccomend? Also les swab hated on BF G's they dont sell them, however l like the looks of them. what do you think?

 

If the dealer is cheaper then I see no reason not to go with them.
