3rd gen truck production dates? Do I have the last one?

Anyone know where to find the production dates for the 3rd gen trucks?

I have a 1994 4WD Ext-Cab DX truck build on 5/94... I'm wondering how close I am to having the last 3rd gen of this model ever produced.

Anyone have one built later?

I thought vehicle manufactures usually start in on the next year models about halfway through the year. However, since they were swithing over to an entirely new truck (tacoma), they might have extended production of the 94 model on a seperate line.

Anyone with a later build that 5/94?

Well the P/U technically went about half way into 95, so it could be that there were some produced after 94...

I know my Uncle's 95 P/U that was made in Japan (they made the Canadian market Pickups up until 95 in Japan - they switched over the American production for pickups in 91-92 to Freemont California plant - NUMMI) was part of the last 2500 Pickups Toyota made for the Canadian market, and the last trucks Toyota made in Japan for the North American market. Everything after that has been produced in North America for both Canada and the US.

I believe to this day engine production for Toyota trucks has always been in Japan i.e. the 3.4's and even the 4.0's are were/are made in Japan for Tacoma's/4runners whether they are made in the USA (Tacoma) or not (4runner).

Is your uncle's 1995 P/U a 3rd gen or a tacoma?

I guess I thought 1994 was it for the 3rd gen p/u's, I didn't know there were 1995 3rd gens around.

Learn something new everyday.

Tacomas started in '95.5. Yes, that's ninety-five and a half. Before that was all pickups.

95.5 were the first tacoma's on the market...however i have no idea what date they stopped producing the pickups, like you said in the OP "I thought vehicle manufactures usually start in on the next year models about halfway through the year"
