Towing ALOT what do I do??

Towing 3500 lb wakeboard boat with my 4runner 2002 sport V6 almost every weekend. I am about to need to new tires at 60K, and was wondering if i should look into new shocks as well? I dont have any rear sag (yet) but I bet I am going to see that as time goes buy with the towing. Any specific shocks to get and would a body or suspension lift be a bad idea?

I did the same thing with my 2001 Tige 21V (4000 lbs) and ended up blowing out my rear end. With the boat loaded, full of gas, and a few friends in the truck, I was way over the GVWR of 5000 lbs.

One thing you may want to look into is a tranny cooler. If you want to stiffen up the rear end, look at some OME coils and heavy duty shocks (can find them at wheelers off road). I noticed a far better ride when I installed mine.

Are airbags out of the question?

Tranny cooler is a must, keep the fluids changed more often.

I got airbags and its wonderful. It allows you to gauge how stiff you want the suspension depending on load. I had airshocks that functioned way better but they don't last very long. Blew the seal on 2 sets in a year.

I hate to say it, but if you're towing that much, get a vehicle that is made to tow. I'm not saying the 4Runner is not capable, but it's easier to do it with a bigger vehicle with a bigger engine and drivetrain.
