You have a ton of reading ahead of you!

You are looking about 1200-1600 if you have it done, and about 300 if you DIY and dont replace anything - read the above posts for things we all recommend replacing

ok, tell us more about your issues..

do we have white smoke coming out the exhaust?

Can we locate where the coolant leaks are?

Are we running hot?

is there coolant in the oil?

what does the coolant look like?

Lots of good info on this forum It's pretty much helped me walk through the whole process of doing all the work myself I'm pretty much at the half way mark now and prey to the autogods I'm done putting it all back together by next weekend and running correctly!

Fair warning though, it IS a PITA!

It's not the U hose that people are talking about... it looks like a head gasket leak...
no coolant in the engine from checking the dipstick or the oil cap...
the car has an oil leak so the coolant driping is mixing with the oil on the outside of the
engine.... other than that maybe ill try taking pictures if i can get any...
the engine is not running hot... and there is steam coming from under the hood....
i had this problem a year ago but had my dad's friend fix it...
looks like it's happening again but it doesn't look like a hose at all... thanks for the info.

lenne - when it steams up again, pop the hood and move all your coolant hoses around, you may have a pinhole leak somewhere.

Mine had coolant on the rear of the heads where they bolt to the block - is this what you are talking about?
