Ordered My New Tires Today! - BFG MTs 255/85r16s

So I bit the bullet and ordered my new rubber today. Once I get the new struts and coils put on next week I should be good to go with the tires. I could probably have gotten away without the front lift (i have a'99). I figured before I go pounding, cutting and destroying the front rocker panels I might as well lift the front (Ive been putting it off for the past 2 years) I like the stance I have now (I have a 3 inch lift in the back, stock front) and it works great for towing. Im buying a set of the OME 881s, which Im hoping to give me about 1.5 inches of lift. Ill get some before and after pictures. Ive settled on practicallity for the past 3 sets of tires Ive put on all my vehicles... so this time I decided to finally get what I want and go with the BFG MTs. My 4runner isnt my daily driver anymore, I ride one of my motorcycles or we take the wifeasaurus' volvo. I figure if I get 40k miles out of the tires it would be about 5 years, and at that point Ill be looking for dry rot anyhow. So im pretty excited to finally get some nice, big, off road meat on my rig. I got a really good price I think too. My brother in law hooked me up the total will come to about $660 mounted and balanced... Ill post pics soon.

I'm sure you will love those BFG MTs. I recently put on a set of 265/70/17 BFG ATs on my 03, but I really wanted the MTs! Unfortunately the wife still drives the kids around in the 4Runner... So, I had to meet her in the middle for road driving. I really need to get her something else to haul the crumbcrunchers around in.

You say yoiu have 3" in the back and stock in the front? did you have to trim or do anything to makes these fit? Or does the 255 width allow a 33" without trimming?

Ill be putting a 1.5-2 inch lift on the front. The '99s sit alittle higher to begin with. With the minimal lift and some small workings of the pinch weld, I should be able to fit the 255s. Ill let everyone know how it goes by next week.

I would like to make a request. Prior to you installing the lift, will you install the tires up front and take some pictures of them installed? I am interested in rubbing issues. Thanks.

difference in the "flares"

Guys- I am comparing the pics of azrunnin to Snoviking and wondering what do you all call those abbreviated flares of azrunnin?

I have the same kind of fender trim on my 99 as azrunnin but mine are the chrome trim, and they let too much debris up the side of the body. I think I want the SR5 flares as shown on the Snoviking rig pictures. I can see the visual difference of the Limited flares and am not fond of their shape. I see others have gone to Bushwhacker for fender flares, but they seem pricey to me.

And my vehicle is an SR5, so I am confused-how do some of us get the super skinny flares and other SR5 trucks get the "true" SR5 flares ?

Is it a simple mod to drop my chrome trim flares and go to true SR5 flares?

And those 255s look nice and I can't wait to see this lift....

If anyone could help explain to me the flares I would appreciate it,.not trying to hijack this thread but the pictures made a good example to use .

Ron, the SR5 flares were an upgrade. I don't believe it would be too hard to make the conversion, although it might be hard finding the flares for a decent price.
