Traction control cause problems lifting 4Runner?

I've been told by a few shade tree mechanics that I won't be able to lift my 01 4Runner 4x4 due to it's traction control electronics.

Has anyone heard of this?

Man, this sucks cause I have been saving some coin to throw at Sonoran Steel for a quality kit.

Completely stupid mechanics. Look in the check out my ride section there are tens of lifted 01 and 02 runners in there. In fact mine is one! No problems!

Not true 3" of lift and 1" BL system still works. Maybe they meant after they work on it.

Another lifted 01 here, no problems with the traction control or any of the other electronic gizmos.

My '02 has been lifted for almost 2 years without a problem with the traction control system. The "shade tree" mechanics don't know what they're talking about.

BTW, the Sonoran Steel lift is very highly regarded here on YT and is probably the most capable off roading lift available. I did the 3.5" LC coil lift in the rear and 2.5" Daystar front spacer lift. I'm looking at replacing the front setup with Tundra coils. Good luck!

Sounds to me like you need to steer clear of those mechs.

I've got an '02 Sport here w/ the SS 7.1 lift and this lift has not caused a single problem w/ my trac system.

I'm sure Steve would get a chuckle out of their response...although he's probably heard that line before.

Thanks all, I thought they were feeding me a line, but I wanted to check first before making a purchase.

Can't wait to get this thing off the ground!
