32x11.50 vs 31x10.50 vs 33x10.50

I just want opinions on which size to get. I want an aggressive tire and it's going on a stock 15x6 (I think) steel wheel. I just have the bars cranked a little and I'm putting a small block in the rear. I also don't want to spend too much. I was thinking about trying some Kumho MT's or Trxus MT's (I know the Trxus are good tires, but the Kumhos come in more sizes and they are a little easier to get). I even thought about some 32x10.50 Radial TSL's. Thanks for the help.

The taller tire you use, the worse your gas mileage & power loss is going to be. The bigger tires just cause more issues. Stick with 31x10.50 max & you'll be happier.

Since the rims are steel and if they are stock, then they probably are 6" wide. With 6", you'll want to stick with no more than 10.50" wide tires for better tread wear. Any wider and the tires will balloon causing the tread to round more and wear faster in the center.
Run a search on tire size. There's lots of threads on tires with what others have found...the issues they've run into....running larger tires. Would explain more of what TNRabbit is saying.

you will feel some power loss the bigger tire you go to, but thats the compromise right?
The Kuhmo's both the A/T's and the M/T's are good tires. I run the A/T's on my '04. I run a 32X11.50.
I would say you can run a 32 if you have a little lift. I've got 32X11.5's on my '84 also.
If you go any bigger than 32's though, you'll probably want to regear to get your power back.
a 32X10.5 or 11.5 is a good size probably.

thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming! I forgot to say, they're for an 88' 4runner with (as of right now, will probably soon change) a minor t-bar crank. The gearing is stock (Im guessing 4.10's but I dont know for sure). Its a trail/fun rig only so fuel mileage isnt much of a concern, so I'm kinda leaning towards 33x10.50 BFG's.

I have BFG AT 33X10.50 and I really like them. They fit with only a minor t-bar crank.
I have a 5-speed and regeared to 4.88 and the power is pretty much dead on. I still get 21 mpg as well (yes, odometer adjusted for)

I have 33x10.50 with no lift, no tbar crank, just fixed the saggy butt. They don't rub at all.
If you're gonna wheel it, there is only one answer - 33x10.50. There is no other way to cost effectively get clearance under the diffs than taller tires...
If you have a manual tranny, your gearing will be OK, but you will want to look into some 4.88's in the future...

I think ive decided to go with the radial TSL. It's gonna be mainly off-road anyway and the price is right. Now I have to decide between a 33x10.50 and a 32x10.50. The actual heights are 32.1 and 32.7. I can't decide if the .6 of an inch is worth an extra $70.
