power stearing fluid leak

my friend has a '93 runner that's leaking a quart of PS fluid every other day...the problem is that there is no visible evidence. We've had my mechanic look at it (for almost 3hrs) and he couldn't find it. he put it on his lift, ran tests with it running and such and no luck.

My '84 yota has a simple PS system, but this '93 is much different. From what I've read, it shares some areas with the brake system (but the fluid isn't leaking into the brake system because the brake system shows no change in fluid level).

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

check the vacuum hoses running from the idle up pressure switch on your p/s pump. If there's fluid inside there, replace the pressure switch and the vacuum hoses.

HTH.

K, I can check that, where would the fluid be going? there is no sign of it on the pavement and it leaks whether it's running or not...my friend has parked it for a couple days and it still leaked...no visible dripping anywhere...driving us crazy.

Ive had a long list of problems with my PS on my 90 toyota pickup. It's got a steering gearbox (which has recently begun to leak) power steering pump, and vacuum lines to the IM. If there is no evidence of a leak that large. Then it as to be getting burned up (ie IM vacuum lines as 86 tuning has already pointed out) Good luck.
