About two years ago I was driving back to Ohio from Michigan and almost ran out of gas since the gas gauge stopped working. Did some searching on Yotatech and found out that this is somewhat common. I never got around to fixing it. I was planning on doing it before winter this year though. Anyhow all of a sudden it is working again and it is accurate. I have tested it several times. The only thing I have done to the 4runner since the initial failure was to wire in some Hella 1000FF lights and that is it electrical related. I wired in the lights and noticed the gas gauge working 3days later on my way to Michigan to help my grandfather clean up his farm after the tornado. Not that I am complaining, but does anybody have any idea what happened? I can't figure it out>

 

Maybe you tied the lights into an old ground and it just happend to be the same ground for the tank. maybe just bad connectors. its electronics simple yet can get complex
