Cheap interior mod idea's...inclinometers, compass, fire extenguisher,

Just like Tom (Mertztr), I got my inclinometers from Mike (xtreme-off-road). However, I installed my side-to-side inclinometer in the location shown. I believe Tom installed his to the left of the steering wheel. Check it out:

And the front-to-back (same location as Tom)

Cost: $15

Next I picked up a compass from REI. It comes on a landyard, but I took that off. I think it looks cool right by the brake.

Cost: $12

And last but not least, my fire extinguisher. If you do not have a cargo cover, there is a great mounting spot as shown. The holes drilled do not ruin anything, so you can always add the cargo cover later.

Cost: $15 at Costco for the extinguisher

TOTAL: $42

Nothing special, just a few mod idea's for you frugal enthusiasts out there. Mike from xtreme off-road will take care of you if you want the inclinometers. I am going to safely test the front to back inclinometer and my bumper scrape angles, then make small marks on the inclinometer, sometime in the future.

Nice job Christian! Can you still move the lever all the way to the defrost spot? Looks sort of close in that pic, but I figured it was just the angle.

Yeah, its just the picture. The inclinometer is not even close to the heating/cooling controls. Its pretty far forward. I liked your spot, but the passengers seem to like to watch the inclinometer when I take 90 degree turns at 60MPH.

How the compass working, I get within 2 feet of any spot on my Taco and my hand compass misreads. I only checked it once, but it was off about 20* sitting on the tailgate.

All your mods look good, I like mounting stuff (like your FE) can be removed without holes showing.

I need to add the back-to-front inclinometers, just to help level my rig up when I sleep in the back at night, plus I'd like to know how steep a few hills are. :-)

The compass is not bolted down. So I pick it up and hold it to make sure the reading is correct. You are right though, there are times that it misreads down by the handbrake. Must be from some type of magnetic interference somewhere. Kinda handy to have around though. All I have to do is hold it up.

May be all the steel???

You have a smart plan buy using that type compass. I have one like you, but mine is packed with my map stuff, But I NEEDED* to spent $70 for a elec. digital dash compass :-( and it may be easier to check on the fly, but not $70 worth.

*need: not a word that has the same meaning with my 4X4 or workshop as in real life.
