sliders with homemade bender...

Here's a pic of the bender (still unpainted) I built from plans on eBay, so I'm looking to fab up some armor for myself (4Runner) and my brother (pickup)..

got some tubing for, $3.75/foot. good or bad? (1 3/4" hrew)

fabbing up sliders for me and my bro...

all notching done with a bandsaw using templates as guides, very little grinding, notcher not required...

bro's 88 pickup all done...

my runner being fitted, should be welded up tomorrow...

not as cheap as i thought, $95 for a 24' piece good for one set of sliders, not counting cutting, notching, welding, etc... makes me wonder how some an sell these so cheap.

can't wait to start on the front and rear bumpers next!

Wicked man. I priced out building my own, but at $100 for steel, i felt that the extra $40 was worth it to just buy pre made ones. You must also think though, companies mass producing these are getting a discount on the steel and have all required tools to make them quickly

At least you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself. That counts for something.

Awsome bender, thats my biggest delima. I have no access to a pipe bender. Dont want to pay the local metal shop to bend stuff for me. I might try my hand at building a pipe bender like that.

the plans are cheap ($17). it's the materials (free) and the $300 die (my only expense)

read above... if you're serious about making sliders or anything, the plans are one of the cheapest and best investments in that direction...

PM me if you need more details...
