Mystery grinding sound right front wheel

Hey y'all, '85 Runner 4 cyl. I've had an intermittent grinding sound coming from the right front wheel, first guess was the heat shield but that wasn't the cause. Grinding sound disappeares when in 4-wheel drive. Any guesses before I take her into the shop?

Thanks kindly,

Trevor

If in 2WD you have grinding then I would say it is a loose wheel bearing as the rest of your axle is not turning to make noise and when you engage your manual hubs it puts just enough pressure on the wheel bearing to stop the noise.
