New Head Unit install without Wiring Harness

I bought a new head unit for my 2002 4runner SR5 but i don't have a wiring harness. I am planning on splicing the wires from the new head unit directly into the car wires. Just before the plug itself. can anyone let me know the purpose of each wire???

thanks in advance.

Here is the thing. I am not in the US and this isn't something i can find easily as a walk in store. knowing the wires is basically my only option.

Fair enough...try this site. About half way down you can see a wiring diagram. I would continue to look for a better one to keep you updated.

The internet! why didn't i think of that. Especially when most online companies are happy to ship to small islands in the Caribbean....especially the ones they never heard of......your post is very helpful thank you!

Actually it is not hard to get them to ship there. I own a buissness and i ship places i have never heard of all the time.

But if you have to splice them then try to find a Factory Service manual or that link up there is pretty good.

check out 12volt.com. You can get a good wirng colour code breakdown there for free. Infact you can get it for pretty much any car, there easy to find as well, all sorted by manufacturer. Goodluck.

Here's a link.... http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/vehicles.html
