No, I am not thinking about getting one of these to wash the rig, I have my own favorite soap, Griots carwash soap.

A guy at work uses this to rinse off his vehicles as he says it leaves no spots or water on it.

He says you can set the nozzle to de-ionized at the end after you have used the rinse setting, and the de-ionized setting is what makes all the water and spots disappear.

This might be good to cut down on drying time, as I normally wipe down my rig twice with a Griots Microfiber towel, and that alone can take as long or longer than washing the whole rig.

So is there any proof to this system that it will make it virtually spot free and wipe down free from using their nozzle?

If so, it would cut down my wash sessions by 20 to 30 minutes at least.

 

Yes, the thing works. Absolutely no drying necessary.

When I lived in Cleveland, I washed my roomate's black ML and C240 in less time than it would have taken him to do one without a single waterspot.

I think the biggest part of it is the special soap that makes the water sheet instead of bead. Even if you don't use the "special" rinse (which is just filtered, not deionized - at least on mine) it doesn't leave spots, but I would imagine that could depend a lot on how hard your water is.

 

I wonder if it will work though since I am going to apply my own soap with my mitt and wash bucket as normal?

Part of that sheathing action I understand may be from their soap too.

It is a PITA drying off my roof twice.
I have to move the ladder three times for each side, so a total of 12 moves for the ladder when I dry it twice.

Going to pick one up before the weekend, and if the weather holds will try it out Saturday.

 

I've noticed you get the same sort of results if you use water from a water softener. My friend put one in his new home, along with hot and cold water access to wash your car, it's pretty nice!

 

Its just a reloadable filter you pop in the end of the gun every 3 washes. I have one, and it does work pretty well. I used both the mr clean soap and some generic walmart soap and it worked the same. The water never "sheeted" off like the commercial, but after the spot free rinse it did leave it spot free.

I haven't hand washed a car I own since I sold my '96 back in '01. Since I got the 97, I want to keep it clean. I forgot how much of a PITA washing a truck really is! The Mr Clean makes it just a little bit easier.

 

I use the soap since I bought one of these things awhile back. its the soap that does it. Thus far no spots at all really, but the filter helps it..

Then again I use my pressure washer and the soap so that maybe helping.

 

Nope, not the soap. I used both the mr clean soap and some cheap walmart soap and it works the same.

Its the filter. Water spots are nothing but minerals that are in your "hard" water that dry out and leave white spots. The filter takes the minerals out, therefore eliminating the source of the white spots. You could accomplish the same thing by adding a water softener to your plumbing.

 

I was going to get one of thease things, but I really do enjoy washing my rig ang drying it by hand. I also think doing it this way is relaxing to me. I love cleaning my rig. She always looks new.

 

I am still debating to pick one up before Saturday.

I too actually find it quite relaxing and therapeutic to wash a rig and dry it.

Regardless, the rig is getting a bath Saturday morning, it needs it bad.

 

I will stick to the hand drying as I enjoy it.

you ever heard of the "drying your car with water" technique? personally though, i like using my electric leaf blower.

 

I just go to the slapper wash and I always use spray detailer after a wash anyways and wipe it down.
