OK probably a stupid question but any way. I haven't had a straight front axle apart for a while (like 15-20 years) anyway before I take the thing apart and get some crap mixed up--tends to happen. Is the spline count different where the axle goes into the differential than the birfield?
Flame away if you like, I don't mind...if someone has got a picture of an axle out of the housing that would be appreciated....

 

If you have stock birfs, yes.

30 spline at the diff, axle necks down to 27 spline at the birf

 

And all are 30 spline at the manual hub.

 

True, but that wouldn't be the inner axle ...

 

Thus the reason I used the word "And" to start my comment.

Can you do anything for a full cage? Need one to put in the '81 since it has replaced the '05 for trail duties...have looked at Marlin but he is at least 6 weeks out, but $100 cheaper than All-Pro...
