Ok engine wizards....nothing goes in this hole, right?
Before I button the bottom end of my 22re up, just want to make doubly sure I'm not forgetting something here. The one small plug goes in the hole next to it (right?!!), but I'm not 100% sure of the hole to the left. Nothing goes in this hole, right? I'm not talking about the oil pan holes.......I know what's going on there!!
What is the hole to the left for? Thanks.

Hope I remember how to do this hotlink stuff.

Good catch.. You just prevented yourself some heartache.
I believe that's an oil galley hole. They typically pull 'em when hot tanking a block and cleaning it out.
If it's not plugged, you'll have a hard time getting oil pressure.
There are more than one - so you might ask someone who has a list.. One in front that I know of, I think one in the rear also.

nothing worse than starting a new motor with little or no oil pressure. I forgot to put the oil drive off the dizzy on once, on a ford motor, took the oil pan off to check the oil pump and discovered no oil drive. I felt like the biggest dumb a!!.

Well, I squirted WD-40 into the hole......didn't take much to fill it up and the level never dropped. What could this hole be used for? Was it needed when the block was being made? Come on........somebody gotta' know!!!!!!
