91 truck new speakers questions..

Went by the local sterio shop (diamond sterio) and got a quote on new speakers.

They wanted 280 (install, tax included) for 4 rockford fosgate speakers ( 4" front and 5" rear custom install)

Do you guys this this is a decend price?

I am also in the market for a sub of some sort. They wanted close to 650 for sub, amp, box and install stuff..

I found a 10" MTX sub + pioneer amp and box for 200 bucks. Anything I should know before I go and buy used stuff?

thanks!

well, a local place by me that installs with custom work and such is about 90 for a pair of speakers custom boxed and mounted, and about 60-70 for a pair in factory mounts. it all depends on the amount of work though. truthfully, id say do it yourself. its not rly that hard. the factory mount take about 30 minutes all together if u know what ur doing, aka take apart ur dash and plug in the speakers, and building a mount and running wires would be slightly time consuming and stuff, but if u dont rly care about looks u can just run the wires along the floor or something. lol.

as for the woofer, buying used stuff isnt a bad thing, but when u look at the subs of yesterday compared to the subs of today... find a good deal. if u can find rly nice stuff that hasnt been abused and beaten, for a really nice price, grab it.

i am currently running a 10" rockford fosgate p2 sub in a Q-logic box powered by an alpine mono amp. i got the amp on sale, and saved about 70 bucks, paid 150 for it, the box was about 70, and the sub was about 80. altogether thats about 300, and its all great stuff. its got the quality and power.

basically, it comes down to how much of your wallet you want to throw. if u do the install of the speakers yourself, u could put that money towards upgrading your woofer system.

good call on the fosgates though. i love the sub woofer. i think those and polks are my fav thus far.

I am going with the rockford speakers for sure. 200 bucks for all 4 is not too bad.

I found another sub/amp for sale today.

12" mtx RT12-04 sub
mtc RT2002 amp
and a box

200 bucks and it was only used for 6 months.

Considering its newer then the 10" one Its looking more appealing but im really not sure what kind of quality mtx is compaired to pioneer or somthing.

Im not really looking into spending a whole lot of money here, the speakers where my main focus but I would like to have a sub for that extra kick

plus.. im scared ▓▓▓▓less of wires
