Quick qustion about spare tire mount

i think they came on helux surfs?
anyways how hard would this be, just drill some holes and thats it?

on 90&91 runners this was an option. We are just the lucky son's of guns that got them.
As stated, a search will return plenty of results. Basically you have to add a re-enforcing plate to the pass-rear corner, otherwise the weight of the carrier/tire will mess up your sheet-metal. Most people opt for bumpers with the carrier built in, since it is a heck of a lot easier, and means you get a new rear bumper too.

Another option is to go aftermarket. Then all you have to worry about beefin up are you rear coils to support the weight. http://irbisoffroad.com/

Chris Geiger converted his 4Runner to the factory rear spare carrier about 8 years ago or more when he first got into 4WD Toys. He had to cut some inner sheetmetal just to get the OEM reinforcement stuff inside to bolt up. If I remember correctly he said he'd never do it again. The write up or references to it might still be on www.off-road.com
