Rear window rattle when half-down

Rear window rattle when half-down
So, liking fresh, "unprocessed" air in my 4runner when I drive, I find that the best orientation is to have the sunroof open 1/3 - 1/2, and the rear window rolled down 6-8". (This gets some good airflow without feeling like you're sitting in a windtunnel) Unfortunately, the rear window is loose in this orientation, and rattles forward and back whenever I hit any sort of imperfection in the road. I was wondering if anyone here knows if that's normal, or if there's a part I can pick up to replace what I've got (if it's worn out). I'm hoping that the rubber retainer is just worn out. I've done a couple of searches and can't find an answer to this - please let me know if there's already a thread that covers this. Thanks for any input you have

Check the rubber holding the window in place thats visable.
If thats ok...........it's time to go in and investigate
I try never to ride trails or offroad with my windows partially open.
They either stay 100% down or closed otherwise they tend to jump and shake and it can't be good in the long run.

i just had this problem the other day, take off the 2 black panels under the molding with a 10mm socket and look for a off white piece of plastic that may have popped off and could be given some trouble.

I'm bumping this thread back to the top.
I have the same problem, but it rattle when its all the way down and I shut the rear hatch too. Anyone know of anything that could have broke or gone bad with it?

Just found this thread. Not sure if this will help, but the problem lies inside the door (meaning you have to take off the door panel to access this). There is a rubber guide that the window slides down. It should be located towards the latch side of the door (opposite of the hinged side). Most of the time, it's just fallen off and sits on the bottom of the door, so all you have to do is get some glue and stick it back on. If it's torn, you will have to get new ones.
Hope this helps.

it will rattle when the window is down and you slam the hatch
a little bit
normal
----
but in any open position and window in any spot, should not rattle
the black rubber gaskets on the edge will hide a rattle when halfway down and up, but below halfway and to full open,
the rails inside keep the rattle down. open the lid, prise off the internal door cover, look inside for loose bits
